BBQ and Care Ministry. Make them the Best they can be!

Kansas City BBQ, at Jack Stack is simply the best BBQ

You will go out of your way for the best.

Susan and I just road-tripped over 1,300 miles to be with our daughter, her husband and their two adorable children for a late celebration of the holidays. We road-tripped from Wooster, OH to Castle Rock, CO and that took us through Kansas City.

A friend put us on to Jack Stack BBQ. I don't think I ever met BBQ I didn't like but once I had Jack Stack, I knew I had the best. For me, all other BBQs are now measured by how they compare to Jack Stack. Actually, it will be a comparison for how they measure up. Jack Stack is the standard.

Now, we make sure our trip includes Jack Stack. We plan our stops so we are heading through Kansas City at lunch or dinner time and that isn't easy on a cross-country road trip.

Everyone that works there is confident they are the best.  They enjoy the customer's pleasure that comes from them being the best. And, beyond Patrick Mahome and the Chiefs, the city of Kansas City is renown for its BBQ.

What if your ministry provided the Best Care and people would go out of their way to experience it?

There are four ingredients to the Jack Stack recipe that translates to care ministry:

  1. You have something to offer that people have an appetite for. Everyone needs to feel cared for.
  2. Be passionate about it. It is clear to me, even without knowing the people, Jack Stack cared about BBQ and seeing people enjoy it. That was his passion and there is an excitement around it. Ministries need to be passionate about their care for people.
  3. Being the best is not an accident. Lots of work goes into being the best. There is a way to do BBQ and a way to care. Discover the essentials of care. Learn from those who do it best. Put together the best ingredients and you will come up with something that people like.
  4. Being the best is contagious. People want to be part of what is best. When we are passionate about care, and offer the best care, people will notice and they will do the same.

The results will be delicious. Your care matters!

It was comfortable. It was appropriate. We were comforted with two opportunities to care.
